Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) provides funding for two governmental policies:
-
Raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and closing the gap with their peers; and
-
Supporting children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces
Disadvantaged students
Students from Reception to Y11 (aged 5 -16 years), known to have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years or children in public care continuously for at least 6 months (aged 4-15 years) are eligible for the Premium.
Service children
Students whose parents are or have been serving members of the armed forces in the past 4 years are eligible for the Premium.
How we utilise the pupil premium grant.
The Government believes that schools are best placed to assess how best to use the grant.
Working in partnership with parents, students and external agencies, Heathfield Community School uses the grant to create a learning environment designed to foster independent learning and maximum attainment for disadvantaged students and their peers.
We achieve this through access to extensive academic and pastoral support systems, including, where appropriate, individual or small group intervention, to complement high quality teaching and small class sizes. We recognise the following as prerequisites for successful learning:
-
Attendance
-
Engagement
-
Literacy and Numeracy skills
-
Aspiration
-
Resilience
To extend provision and to raise attainment, students were offered sole or priority access to the services described in the 2018-2019 review.
